More companies starting to adopt online booking systems to save costs.

The rising cost of business travel caused by airlines imposing hefty fuel charges on top of airport taxes and security charges are forcing many businesses to review their travel budgets.

It is in these uncertain economic times that many companies look at how they can reduce their budgets and many are finding that using online booking systems provided by travel management companies can drive down costs.

Barrhead Business Travel has had a number of high profile companies adopt their on-line travel management system and are reporting a high interest in companies wanting to move on-line.

It’s at times like this that companies look to trimming their costs and many are now considering putting some or all of their travel through an online systems. The real benefits that many companies find is that besides cost savings it and offers better control and monitoring of travel expenditure because of the built in sophisticated process management’ says Mark Brock, Director Business Travel.

Many companies were slow on the take up of on-line booking systems arguing that a good travel management company was more cost effective. However the balance has now shifted and decision makers are beginning to understand how to make these systems work with their travel management companies to reduce costs.

‘It’s not one size fits all – it is about understanding the business mix and type of travel, the internal and external processes and seeing where automation can help companies become more efficient’ continues Brock.
